MicroLite – Delivers Measurable Quality Assurance

Customer’s Last Word:

“MicroLite loggers provide the ideal solution for high maintenance products during transportation. Our minimal initial investment required by the MicroLite has been recouped repeatedly.”

Robert Soares, Sea Star Seafood Corporation Representative

Highly perishable sea-foods require exporters to integrate quality assurance throughout harvest, processing and shipment cold chain which brings challenges in cost, accuracy and the identification of optimal parameters per product. Established in 1983, Sea Star Seafood Corporation ships highly perishable frozen seafood samples to brokers and customers across the United States.

Application: Cold Chain - food

Organization: Sea Star Seafood Corporation

Background:

Highly perishable sea-foods require exporters to integrate quality assurance throughout harvest, processing and shipment cold chain which brings challenges in cost, accuracy and the identification of optimal parameters per product.

About the Customer:

Established in 1983, Sea Star Seafood Corporation ships highly perishable frozen seafood samples to brokers and customers across the United States.

Key Customer Challenges:

  • Frozen gel packs must be used to refrigerate stock during shipping. However, too few result in product spoilage, and too many incur unnecessary air freight charges.
  • Units must be water resistant for semi-immersion in ice during shipping.
  • Tight packaging requires a compact logger that meets minimal space allowances.

MicroLite Implementation:

The MicroLite logger is placed inside the insulated shipping box, together with a postage-paid return envelope for return to Sea Star after delivery. The logger is programmed to start when the courier arrives to pick up the package. Samples are recorded at 1 minute intervals during the overnight shipment. On return to Sea Star the data is downloaded for analysis.

Measurable Results:

  • Measurable quality assurance - Accurate and reliable confirmation of temperatures with detailed analysis of shipment from origin to destination.
  • Optimized shipping process – identifying the right number of refrigeration packs for a shipment ensures maximum air freight cost savings and minimum product loss.
  • Value for money - water resistant, compact, accurate, low cost monitoring system with zero implementation, packaging disruptions or training costs.
