Key Customer Challenges:

  • Honda engine compatibility tests require various locations are tested to ensure the operating temperature is compatible with the manufacturers’ product, a standard procedure was needed for implementation by all US Honda offices and distributors.
  • Honda or distributor technicians must always test at the manufacturer’s site. This meant a system had to be fully portable and autonomic.
  • A testing system must be intuitive and not require a high level of computer literacy, ensuring reliability and ease-of-use by distributors and technicians.


DaqPRO Implementation:

Six different testing scenarios assess operating temperatures with single and twin cylinders, carburetors, spark plugs and fuel tanks. The DaqPRO system’s internal ambient temperature sensor in I/O-1, together with up to five type K thermocouples in the other inputs, are used depending on which testing scenario is applied. All DaqPRO temperature graphs are set to the scale -5 ˚C to +250 ˚C, at a sampling rate of one per second for up to four hours.

  • Stand-alone functionality - DaqPRO long battery life, high sampling memory and large LDC allow technicians to gather data, display it onsite to the manufacturer and where necessary perform data analysis, all without a computer connection.
  • Easy applicability division-wide - the DaqPRO system is simple and turnkey, allowing for consistently accurate and reliable testing by all Honda representatives. 
  • Setup on every port – enables a comprehensive set of scenarios to be applied on a single unit, catering to every possible manufacturer product.
  • Onsite reports - the export to EXCEL feature has standardized the process, providing multiple-parameter engine compatibility spreadsheets on-site for both the manufacturer and Honda representative.
