China Guodian Corporation, based in Beijing, is one of the five largest state-owned power generation groups in China with presence in 31 provinces and over 120,000 employees. It was established in 2002 and administrated by SASAC for the State Council of the People's Republic of China, involved in the construction and operation of power stations in China as well as in Burma. Guodian Corporation is listed in the Fortune Global 500 and engages in development, investment, construction, operation, and management of power generation and the sales of power and heat. The company also engages in investment, construction, operation, and management of coal, power generation equipment, new energy, transportation, high-tech, environment protection, technological services, and consultancy businesses.


Key Customer Challenges:

  • China Guodian Corporation needed a multi-channel, heat meter solution with the ability to use different sensors simultaneously.
  • The company required a solution that will enable long time measurement (usually 2-3 days).
  • As there are many gas transmission pipelines, the company engineers needed to frequently relocate the equipment; therefore a portable solution was required that can run from battery power.
  • The company required flexible, ultra-thin sensors to accommodate the test environment (pipes) and minimize the influence on the results and enable more accurate results.


DaqPRO Solution:

  • The DaqPRO solution is used as a heat meter for analysis of the insulated material inside the pipeline located on the building’s walls and analysis of the industrial boiler.
  • The solution includes 1 DaqPRO data logger and 2 heat flux sensors, connected to the DaqPRO.
  • Each sensor has 4 lead wires, two for heat flux signal (based on voltage), and two for temperature.
  • Two sensors occupy 4 inputs of the DaqPRO unit. Input 1 and 3 measure heat flux, while inputs 2 and 4 measure temperature.
  • The sampling rate is 1 sample per hour.
  • Data analysis on the measured results was performed using the DaqLab analysis software.
