MicroLite Solution: Temperature Monitoring During Last-Mile Vaccine Distribution
Key Customer Challenges:
COVID-19 vaccines, like most temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, require strict environmental control throughout the supply chain. For last-mile administration, maintaining proper refrigerated conditions at the point of use is essential to protect vaccine quality and ensure patient safety. Vaccines stored in medical-grade refrigerators at clinics, pharmacies, and mobile units must be continuously monitored to confirm compliance with required temperature guidelines.
The company required a compact, dependable, and cost-effective solution that:
- Operated independently within refrigeration units
- Delivered accurate, time-stamped temperature data
- Enabled quick access to temperature data points
- Required minimal infrastructure and was easy to deploy across multiple vaccination sites
Solution Implementation:
The company used Fourtec’s MicroLite Temp 5032 USB temperature data loggers to monitor vaccine storage conditions inside refrigerators located at vaccination sites. These standalone loggers were placed directly into the refrigerators used to store vaccines in the final stage before administration.
The DataSuite desktop software and FourtecLite Android app were used to configure and manage the loggers, analyze temperature sessions, and store historical data. These software solutions, available free of charge via Fourtec's website or App stores, allow users to:
- Configure multiple loggers easily
- Monitor and analyze temperature data over time using graphs and tables
- Receive alarm notifications for any out-of-range readings (once connected to the software/app via computer or Android device)
- Generate PDF reports and export to Excel or CSV formats
